Our Story
Outback Timber & Turf started the way most good things do — out of frustration. We'd spent years working outdoors across Utah, from mowing neighborhood lawns as teenagers to running crews for larger outfits. And we kept seeing the same thing: companies charging premium prices for mediocre work, crews that rushed through jobs to hit their daily quota, and homeowners left wondering why they were paying so much for results that didn't last.
So we built something different. Outback Timber & Turf is a small, hands-on operation where the people who quote your job are the same people who show up to do the work. We don't have a call center. We don't have layers of management between you and the crew on your property. You talk to us directly, and we show up when we say we will.
We're growing — deliberately. Word of mouth has been good to us, and we intend to keep it that way by keeping our standards high and our promises simple. We Know Utah Dirt
Landscaping in Utah isn't like landscaping anywhere else. Our soil is alkaline and calcium-heavy — often above 7.5 pH — which locks up iron and other nutrients that plants need to thrive. If your landscaper doesn't know how to work with that, your lawn is going to look yellow no matter how much fertilizer they throw at it. We test soil, adjust nutrient plans, and choose products that actually work in these conditions.
Then there's the weather. Summers push past 100°F with almost no humidity. Winters drop well below freezing with heavy snowfall along the Wasatch Front. Your lawn and landscaping need to survive both extremes — and the plants, grass types, and irrigation strategies that work here are specific to this climate. Kentucky bluegrass blends for lawns, drought-tolerant perennials for beds, and smart irrigation that doesn't waste water in a state that can't afford to.
Water conservation isn't a nice-to-have in Utah — it's a requirement.
